1. What is the purpose or primary function of the object?
- The purpose of the clock is to tell the time of day or night
2. Make an educated guess as to how this product operates. Use simple machines’ terminology to explain the object’s sequential operation.
- I think the clock as continuous spinning gears rolling off each other constantly making the clock move, moving the wheel in the back to change time makes it go faster for a different time
3. Identify the system inputs, intended product function, and outputs. Use power point to create a "black box" graphic like the toothbrush example discussed in class. Save the slide as a .jpg image and post it to answer this question.
4. What mechanical components are visible?
- mechanical components that are visible are the second hand with the hour and minute hand constantly moving with the time of day, the axle moving the hands are visible with the knob in the back
5. What is it about this device’s function that you cannot identify, because the mechanical components are hidden from plain view?
- You cant identify how it moves and how fast it moves because all of those components are in the back of the clock, the mechanics that back that keep the axle moving
Good job focusing on the inputs and outputs.
ReplyDeleteThe inputs are probably more along the lines of batteries and button pressing/knob turning. The hands are part of the product.
